Lennon: We dominated

-

BOSS Neil Lennon enjoyed a productive afternoon on Saturday as Hibernian’s 1-0 win over Queen of the South extended their lead over Dundee United at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship to eight points.

Midfielder John McGinn’s early second-half goal — his third of the season — gave the visitors a well-deserved victory.

United drew 1-1 at Dunfermline and Lennon, who would like to bring another player in before the January transfer window closes, said: “It was a good day. I am really pleased with the performance.

“It was a deserved win.

“I would have liked a more flattering scoreline as we dominated after we scored.

“I would like us to be more prolific in front of goal at times but I was very pleased with the performance.”

Elsewhere, Morton closed the gap on United with a convincing 4-1 victory at Ayr United.

A Ross Forbes double and a Gary Oliver strike put Ton into a comfortable lead with Jamie Adams pulling a goal back for the hosts.

However, Oliver scored again to move Jim Duffy’s thoroughly- in-form side three points behind the Terrors having played a game less.

A John Baird brace helped Falkirk to a 2-1 win against bottom side St Mirren.

The striker scored either side of the break with Rory Loy, on loan from Dundee, reducing the deficit for the Paisley men.

Dumbarton came from behind to beat Raith Rovers 3-1 at Starks Park.

The hosts opened the scoring with a Ryan Hardie strike but Christian Nade levelled.

Daniel Harvie gave the Sons the lead before Gregor Buchanan added a third.
