Radio presenter and Tayside native Fred today spoke of his delight at hosting the awards, which recognise incredible people in and around Dundee.
In addition, he said they couldn’t have come at a better time.
He said: “I am delighted to be involved with the Community Spirit Awards.
“There are troubled times on a global scale just now, which means that local and community endeavours are all the more valuable.”
Fred takes over as host from Tele columnist Martel Maxwell, who recently became a mum again.
The 2017 Community Spirit Awards will see 36 shortlisted groups and individuals — two of whom have been for which all nominees are eligible.
Mr Duncan said: “It’s always a really amazing and inspirational evening. Everyone nominated, even if they aren’t winners, should feel very proud they made the list in the first place.”
This year’s Community Spirit Awards have been supported from start to finish by title sponsors Angus Council Fostering and Adoption.
Eunice McLennan, area manager for the family placement service, said: “We believe all our foster carers and adoptive parents are extraordinary — ordinary people who have welcomed children into their homes and changed lives, both the children’s and their own, for the better.
“That’s why we are delighted to support an event that celebrates the achievements of ordinary people who achieve extraordinary things, by going the extra mile.”
Don’t miss Monday’s Tele for an eight-page picture special featuring all of our amazing finalists and the complete list of winners.
THE third annual Evening Telegraph Community Spirit Awards event is only three days away — and we can reveal this year’s host is stand-up comedian Fred MacAulay.
