Dawson Park in Broughty Ferry and Victoria Park in the West End are due to have new play equipment installed.

Work on the perimeter fencing at both parks is almost complete.

Funding for the projects was agreed by councillors in December last year.

Councillor Vari McDonald, depute convener of Dundee City Council’s neighbourhood services committee, said artist’s impressions of the project were “quite exciting”.

She added: “The play areas at Dawson and Victoria parks are well used by local children and we recognised that they were in need of upgrading.

“These works will provide safe, modern and accessible equipment that will be enjoyed by children and families come.

“This investment builds on the SNP administration’s commitment to introduce a programme of capital expenditure focused on improving parks.

“More than £700,000 has been signed-off in recent months for projects across the city, with more to come.”

The for many years to installation of new play equipment itself is set to begin at Dawson Park later this month, with works at Victoria Park to follow towards the end of March.

Both projects are expected to take around a month to complete.

The fencing work at both parks is being carried out by Dundee firm P&G Blacksmiths, with the play equipment at Dawson Park to be designed and installed by another Dundee company, Sutcliffe Play Scotland.

Broughty Ferry councillor Kevin Cordell welcomed the start of work at Dawson Park.

He said: “This investment is great news for local families.”

WORK is under way on improvements to play areas at two city parks following a £150,000 investment.
