DUNDEE United Women kicked off their second season with a win in a League Cup qualifier against Thistle Weir Ladies at St Andrews University Sports Centre.

attempts on goal by Robb and Robertson.

Thistle were also threatening on the counter attack with their first attempt on goal going just over with another hitting the crossbar shortly after. Also, United goalkeeper Cameron was in great form.

The United defence were strong as Thistle continued to apply pressure on their goal.

The score remained 0-0 at half-time, despite plenty chances at both ends throughout the first 45 minutes.

The second half started with United applying pressure. Harkins hit a shot from outside the box which was initially cleared by the Thistle keeper.

However, as she attempted to clear the ball from her own box, great perseverance from Harkins succeeded as she struck the ball at the keeper whose clearance then rebounded off the United forward and into the net.

Thistle tried to get an equaliser and were again applying pressure on the United goal.

However, it was the Tangerines who managed to capitalise on the break after 80 minutes. From a great through ball from Swan, Caine hit the back of the net.

Thistle never gave up and had a few more attempts on goal.

However, Cameron stood her ground well and maintained a clean sheet.
