Delight over ticket sales for festival

ORGANISERS behind the upcoming Carnival Fifty Six music festival have said they are “delighted” with the response after tickets went on general sale.

Although exact figures have not been released, festival director Craig Blyth said that sales were “well ahead of projections”, and that there was a “massive buzz” surrounding the festival, which takes place on August 12 and 13 at Camperdown Park.

In addition, some of the tickets sold are being paid for via an innovative payment plan, which allows those who cannot buy the tickets at full price to spread the cost over three months.

Mr Blyth said: “We had a phenomenal response to the preregistration sale on Friday with 2,000 tickets sold in 30 minutes.

“With us heading into pay weekend, we expect the high demand to continue.

“The weight of ticket sales has been through outright purchases.

“However, feedback so far about the payment plan scheme has been very positive and we think it is a good thing to offer customers.”

The festival’s launch party offering a taste of what is to come takes place this Friday at Fat Sam’s.

It will feature performances from local acts Be Charlotte and Model Aeroplanes — who are also performing at the festival itself — and others.

Mr Blyth added: “There is a lot of excitement about this week’s launch party and ticket sales have been great for this too.

“It’s shaping up to be a fantastic night showcasing the best in local talent. We are looking forward to giving people a teaser of what’s to come in August.”

The festival’s line-up includes global charttopping acts Rudimental, Clean Bandit and Mark Ronson.

They will share the stage with Scottish bands such as Sahara, Kashmir Crows and Prides.

More acts are set to be revealed, alongside the festival’s line-up of stand-up comedy, in the coming weeks — including a special guest.
