Stars hoping their fine form keeps on going

-

DUNDEE CCS Stars are looking to continue their good run of form with two wins from this weekend’s matches.

Firstly, tomorrow night, they travel to Wales to face champions elect, Cardiff Devils.

Devils have had a great season, winning the Challenge Cup against Sheffield last weekend and they now look odds-on to win the league title.

Dundee then return home for a huge game against Manchester Storm on Sunday (6.30pm).

Storm l ost their clash against Braehead Clan 4-1 on Wednesday and currently sit out of the play-off places in ninth place, one point behind Stars and having played one more game.

Stars have Vinny Scarsella in great form at the moment. That was rewarded when he was this week named the Elite League Player of the Week.

Coach Marc LeFebvre said: “We’re going to Cardiff to get the points.

“They are a great side but we have a decent record against them.

“Although they are looking to secure the title, we are also determined to pick up as many points as we can until the end of the season.

“Sunday’s game against Storm is huge for both teams but we are in a great vein of form right now and look to keep that going.

“Just a few weeks ago we were eight points behind Manchester and now we are one point above them with a game in hand.

“We are on the coat-tails of Coventry, so we have it all to play for.”

On Scarsella, LeFebvre added: “That’s the second time in a month Vinny has won this accolade.

“We brought him here because we knew he could score and he certainly has done that.

“However, there is more to his game than scoring goals and he has been a great addition to the squad. He’s in tremendous form right now.”

Meanwhile, Fife Flyers travel to Coventry tomorrow looking to pick up points against Blaze to bounce back from their defeat against Edinburgh last weekend.

On Sunday, they have another away fixture, this time against Edinburgh Capitals in Murrayfield.

DUNDEE Tigers travel to face Kilmarnock Storm tomorrow in their final league game of the season.

Tigers player Ian Carstairs said: “We can avoid Aberdeen in the playoffs by winning this game, that’s our focus.”
