Gowfers manager wants a response

- BY JUNICUS

CARNOUSTIE face a home Super League test against bottom club Fauldhouse United tomorrow.

Although they will be favourites to pick up the points, Gowfers manager Alan McSkimming will take nothing for granted after last week’s disappointing defeat by Tayport in the GA Cup.

He said: “We massively underperformed at Tayport and got what we deserved.

“We face two big matches over the next two weeks, starting with Fauldhouse, then away to Jeanfield the following week.

“It’s imperative we recapture the will to win and desire in these fixtures, and the aim must be to pick up six points.”

John Roberts and Scott Gray remain on the sidelines and, although back i n training, Ryan Roche and Roddy Black aren’t quite ready yet.

Broughty Athletic boss Gibson feels last week’s positive performance against Hermes in the GA Cup can signal an end to their winless league run.

Ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Dundonald, he said: “I thought we played some great stuff against Hermes and, hopefully, we can get a repeat performance against Dundonald.

“We beat them 2-1 when we met in Fife earlier in the season but last week’s 5-0 win over Fauldhouse shows they will be no pushover.”

The Fed have a few injury concerns, however, with Ross McCord and Jake Mair definitely out while Ryan Suttie is doubtful.

Lochee United will be out to bounce back after their 3-0 defeat at Bonnyrigg.

The Bluebells didn’t perform badly against the second-top side but, in the end, had to concede the hosts deserved to win.

This week they will be hoping to make home advantage count against Musselburgh, who are just below them in the league.

Manager George Shields has a full pool to choose from, apart from Connor Birse.

Jeanfield travel to face a Penicuik side who beat them 3-2 on the opening day of the season.

Lewis Baker and Sean Fleming return.
