Councillor resigns

PERTH councillor Elspeth Maclachlan has resigned from the SNP and will be standing in her Perth City North ward as an independent. She is understood to have already lodged her nomination form with the council.

The councillor was elected in May 2012 and has served as a member of the environment committee, housing and health committee and the community safety committee. Her outside interests include Perth Festival of the Arts, Friends of Pskov, the Scotland Malawi P a r t n e r s h i p , Ta y s i d e Valuation Joint Board and Thomas Barclay’s Trust.

The elections for the 12 Perth and Kinross Council wards will take place on May 4.
