Efforts at church applauded
AN Angus church has been congratulated in the Scottish Parliament for completing the first stage of major redevelopment.
Scottish Conservative MSP Liam Kerr lodged a motion to applaud the efforts of the congregation at East and Old Parish Church in Forfar. It has been signed by 24 MSPs.
Mr Kerr visited the church to meet the Rev Barbara Ann Sweetin and offer his support for the £750,000 scheme.
The motion recognises the hours of work put in by a team of workers over the past 10 months to finish the first phase.
Mr Kerr said: “Churches like East and Old Parish are truly at the heart of their communities.
“Mrs Sweetin and the wider congregation deserved great credit for persevering with the work, which has genuinely been a successful team effort.”
