Juice concern
A LEADING drinks firm has questioned the removal of fruit juice from primary school lunches in Tayside.
UK firm Innocent Drinks said fruit juice can play a vital role in helping children gain vitamin C. The comments came after Tayside Contracts, in conjunction with local councils, removed fruit juice from primary school lunchtime meal options.
A spokesperson for the group said: “We know that children aren’t hitting their five-aday and that some parents are struggling to get their kids to eat fruit and veg.
“Fruit juices and smoothies can be a useful source of vitamin C that helps with the absorption of iron and help introduce children to different fruits.”
