Liberal Democrat election candidates

WE have been asked to state that three Dundee City Council election candidates — Daniel Coleman, Craig Duncan and Fraser Macpherson — are being fielded as Liberal Democrat candidates, as part of the Liberal Democrat focus team.

Coleman will stand in the Strathmart­ine ward, Duncan in the Broughty Ferry ward and Macpherson in West End.

In addition, Donald Hay will stand as a candidate for the Scottish Conservati­ve and Unionist party in the West End ward.

Richard McCready will also stand in West End as a member of the Labour and Co-operative Party.

Existing councillor­s who are standing for re-election are John Alexander, Ian Borthwick, Stewart Hunter, Kevin Keenan, Tom Ferguson — as independen­t, Alan Ross, Bill Campbell, Fraser Macpherson, Mohammed Asif — as independen­t, Helen Wright, Georgia Cruickshan­k, Ken Lynn, Lynne Short, Brian Gordon, Gregor Murray, Willie Sawers, Will Dawson, Christina Roberts, Kevin Cordell, Vari McDonald and Derek Scott.

A total of 69 candidates are standing for 29 seats across the eight wards in Dundee.

Four councillor­s will be elected to each of the Strathmart­ine, Lochee, West End, Coldside and The Ferry wards. Three will be elected to each of the city’s three remaining wards — Maryfield, North East and East End.

The Dundee electorate currently stands at 107,979.

Only people aged 16 or over on the day of the poll who are registered to vote and living within the respective ward, are eligible to vote.

Voters must register by April 17 or they won’t be able to vote.
