make sure we put things right for ourselves and the fans.

“We have been inconsistent but we didn’t see that coming. Aberdeen are a good side and they have run over the top of a few teams this season but there is no excuses for the way we played.

“We simply were not good enough, we were not on the ball and didn’t put up a good enough fight, so we have to put it right in this one.”

He knows Dundee will have to show much more fight against a Staggies outfit who’ve also been struggling but never make it easy for visiting teams.

Equally, he hasn’t forgotten the league season kicked off with a fine 3-1 win in Dingwall back in August.

“Up there is one of the toughest venues to go, so we have to be ready to fight but we have won up there already and we hope to replicate that.

“The first game was a great display and we can take a lot from that.”

The top six is now surely beyond Dundee but O’Hara does see the three games between now and the league split as a chance for Paul Hartley’s team to put considerable distance between them and the relegation places.

“We are going to try to get as many points as we can. There will be no passengers like Friday night when there were 11 of us.

The Staggies’ faint hopes of finishing the season in the top half were ended by Saturday’s 2-1 defeat away to Partick Thistle.

They now sit ninth, just a point above Hamilton and only three from basement boys Inverness.

But boss McIntyre fears his team could end up in trouble and he has urged his players to grasp a chance to arrest that slide when Dundee visit tonight.

“We know Dundee are going to be desperate to bounce back from what was a really sore night against Aberdeen,” he said,
