F E B RUA RY 5, 2014: Appointed manager t o succeed John Brown.
February 8, 2014: His first game in charge is a 1-0 victory over promotion rivals Hamilton Accies at Dens.
April 19, 2014: A 1-0 defeat at Morton looks to have blown chances of automatic promotion.
April 26, 2014: Dundee win 3-0 at his old club Alloa and Accies crash to defeat at Dumbarton. It means Hartley’s Dark Blues are one win away from the Premier League.
May 3, 2014: Dumbarton are beaten 2-1 to clinch that top flight place. Hartley punches the air in delight.
August 9, 2014: A newlook team marks the return to what is now the Premiership with a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Dens. The line-up includes new faces like James McPake, Paul McGinn, Kevin Thomson and Greg Stewart.
November 29, 2014: Another sign Dundee are on the up comes when they knock Aberdeen out of the Scottish Cup at Dens Park.
April 8, 2015: A 3-1 win over United ends a long derby drought and proves enough for Hartley’s men to secure a top-six place in their first season up.
August 1, 2015: The new Premiership season starts with a dazzling display and a 4-0 win at Kilmarnock.
August 11, 2015: A lastgasp goal from James McPake earns a dramatic point in a Tannadice derby that sees Dundee come from two down with less than 10 minutes to go.
December 9, 2015: Despite a lethal attack in Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings, too many draws are hampering the challenge for another topsix finish. A 4-0 win over Hamilton provides a boost.
Jan 2, 2016: One year on from a humiliating 6-2 derby defeat at Tannadice, Dundee beat United 2-1 to leave their city rivals deep in relegation trouble.
April 9, 2016: A 2-1 defeat at Hamilton in the last game before the split ends chances of back-to-back top-six finishes.
May 2, 2016: Dundee come back from a goal down in a derby at Dens and Craig Wighton’s late winner confirms United will be relegated.
July 27, 2016: Kane Hemmings, the previous season’s top scorer with 25 goals, uses a sell-on clause to sign for Oxford United.
August 6, 2016: Despite losing Hemmings and exiting the League Cup, Dundee kick-off i n t he Premiership with a 3-1 win at Ross County.
August 12, 2016: Greg Stewart signs for Birmingham City. Hartley has lost the man who made his side tick.
September 18: A 3-1 home l oss to Aberdeen kicks-off a run of six consecutive defeats that will send the team crashing to bottom place.
October 29, 2016: A 1-0 win at Hamilton ends the losing run and Dundee start moving up the table.
January 21, 2017: A 2-0 home loss to St Mirren sees Dundee crash out of the Scottish Cup.
February 25, 2017: Five first-half goals are smashed past Motherwell to complete an unbeaten month that includes a win over Rangers. It makes Hartley the manager of the month.
March 31, 2017: A 7-0 hammering from Aberdeen is a fourth defeat in a row and the worst-ever home result against the Dons.
April 15, 2017: The losing streak continues with a seventh consecutive loss as Hamilton win 2-0 at Dens. Dundee drop to the relegation play-off spot.
April 17, 2017: The club call time on Hartley’s reign.
