Snow arrived for maternity ward’s move

-

THIS week’s Dundonian brought back memories of working as a nurse at the Maryfield and Ninewells hospitals in Dundee.

The babies pictured coming off a bus in January 1975 (right) were from the maternity ward at Maryfield, which was one of the last wards to transfer patients to Ninewells.

The weather had been good that week, but there was some snow on the day of the move I recall.

REGARDING the babies coming off a bus, this would have been the first mothers and babies being transferred in from Maryfield and Dundee Royal Infirmary. I was one of the first mums to attend the ante natal department in the same month.

Also, the picture of the five staff members with the baby cot (below), I am positive the nurse, second from right, is Catherine Ward, my cousin.

Norma McGovern.
