Champions-elect no match for West End

-

IN the Premier League, Forfar West End ran down the curtain on their season in style with a convincing 3-0 victory to complete the double over champions-elect Sauchie.

Connor Ireland gave West End the lead after 20 minutes and Graeme Hart doubled it midway through the second half with Ireland getting the third with his second.

West End are almost certain to finish in the play-off place.

Downfield travelled across the Tay and returning with a 3-1 victory over St Andrews.

Goals from Ross Gallagher and Marc O’Leary put the Dundee side in the driving seat and, although the Saints pulled one back through Aiden Hendry, a late Dominic Blair goal sealed the points.

Relegation now looks almost inevitable for Violet after they crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Tranent. The Pansies actually led through Craig Batchelor.

Tayport and Glenrothes fought out a goalless draw at The Canniepairt.

’Port finishing the game with 10 men after Ostrovskis was sent off on the hour mark.

The best chance of the game fell to the hosts when they were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes to go after Dale Reid was felled in the box by Glens keeper Small.

However, the goalie went from sinner to saint when he saved Marc Ogg’s spot-kick.

RESULT of the Week — FORFAR WE continue to impress, their latest result a 3-0 win over Sauchie.
