Warning after drill stolen

-

A DUNDEE man is asking locals to be wary after a high-value drill was stolen from his car.

Les Barron left the Hilti SFH 22-A drill — believed to be worth up to £500 — in the boot of his car on Friday night.

When he opened the boot yesterday morning, the drill was gone.

The 55-year-old from Stobswell said:“It was at seven o’clock this morning when I got to work and opened the boot that it wasn’t there.

“There was no sign the boot had been tampered with. I think someone had seen me put it in the boot and went round the corner to scramble the keylock when I was locking up.

“I’ve got a feeling someone stole it between me going round the corner and coming back.”

The drill — which has the serial number 7302863 — is red and black and was in a red plastic case with “HILTI” written on it in white letters.

Les thinks whoever has taken the drill may try to sell it on.

He added: “The case also includes a number of attachments if you want to use it as a screwdriver or as a spanner.

“I’ve had to borrow a drill so I can get on with my work.

“I’m thinking it might appear on somewhere like WhatsApp, Gumtree or eBay, but I’m also going to go round the pubs and ask if they have any CCTV of anyone trying to sell it.”

Police Scotland had not responded to requests for comment at the time of going to press.
