Celtic worthy of gongs — Tierney

-

CELTIC’S domination of the P FA S c o t l a n d aw a rd s nominations reflects their “relentless” treble-chasing campaign, according to Kieran Tierney.

The Parkhead left-back and team-mates Moussa De m b e l e a n d Pa t r i ck Roberts are on the shortlist for the Young Player of the Year award, along with Hibs striker Jason Cummings.

French striker Dembele, with 32 goals to date for the club since arriving last summer, has also been nominated in the Player of the Year category along with Hoops team-mates Scott Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong, with Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes making up the quartet of possible winners.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are unbeaten in 42 domestic games in this campaign and one of his many stars has been 19-year-old Tierney, who won the Young Player award last season and who also picked up the Celtic’s Young Player of the Year award last weekend, for the second consecutive year.

The former Celtic youth player said: “Everybody here deserves it. I actually think there are a few players that aren’t here that deserve it, like Scott Brown, who’s been outstanding this season.

“There are obviously good players in other teams but we’ve been relentless this season, every game has been at 100%, so that’s why there are a few Celtic players here.

“It would be great if I won, but I’m realistic, and I have great competition.

“Moussa and Patrick have done really well this season.”

Winger Roberts, whose loan spell from Manchester City concludes at the end of the campaign, said: “This season has been great. We’ve kept our run going and we’ve been phenomenal.

“You can see from the table that we’ve dominated this season, and that’s been down to the quality of players that we have.

“But whoever wins this award will fully deserve it.”
