Horrified as island bully showed true colours

-

MY son and I like watching The Island with Bear Grylls.

I think it’s one of the few “reality” shows where you get to see an honest view of the individuals.

Frequently hungry, wet, uncomfortable and tired, it is hard for the contestants to put on a cover-up act to always show themselves at their best.

We were, however, horrified at the side of one woman the show brought to the fore.

An ex-policewoman, the 50-year-old says in her video tape — filmed before heading to the island — that she cannot stand bullying and fought against it throughout her time in the police.

Roll on last week’s show and one of her fellow islanders was getting on a lot of people’s nerves.

Also aged 50, he’d been strolling around naked, had used edible oil to boost the fire and generally just did things his own way without thought for or discussion with the others.

Deciding the island would be better off without him, the anti-bully hero mounted a campaign to have him voted off.

She and another woman, of similar age, organised a vote and the man was voted out by a narrow margin and he left! This isn’t even a show where voting takes place!

How could she fail to see that this very act was bullying?

Square eyes.
