Tangerines dream on to advance in League Cup
THE derby between DUSC 13s and Drybrugh 13s was one of United’s toughest games of the season.
A place in the League Cup quarterfinals was up for grabs and the Tangerines won 9-4.
DUSC coach Chantelle McKay said: “Drybrugh gave us a good fight but we just showed determination, team spirit and experience.”
DUSC13’s latest signing, Sophie Hunt, opened the scoring before Drybrugh pulled one back.
Despite going in at half-time 3-2 down, they soon levelled.
DUSC then powered through the second half ending the game 9-4 winners with Tabitha Robertson scoring her first goal of the season on the final whistle, a screamer from the halfway line.
Kerris Harris was named Player Of The Match despite going off injured seven minutes before the end.
DUSC 13s will play Hamilton Accies in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup. They are waiting to find out who they will face in the League Cup quarter-finals.
The team also sit comfortably at the top of Tayside League One and are unbeaten in all competitions.
Chantelle is “extremely proud of the way the girls have performed this season.”
She added: “They have shown experience and determination in all competitions and we hope to secure some silverware.
“I really enjoy watching the girls progress and achieve new things week in week out.
“They are a great bunch of girls and a pleasure to coach. Also congratulations to Deon Cruickshank who has just been named in the U/14 national camp.”
