Gaffer’s delight as Kirrie step up
KIRRIE Thistle boss Jim Finlayson was delighted as his side ensured promotion in emphatic fashion.
After seeing them run in nine without reply at home to Coupar Angus, he said:“The players have worked their socks off all season and have got their rewards.”
Both Bryan Duell and Stewart Russell hit hat-tricks, while Kamal Kadar got one with the own goals accounting for the other two.
A remarkable opening goal paved the way for East Craigie’s 6-2 win at Lochore. In the first minute of the match, Craigie keeper Liam Dunn sent a long clearance into the Lochore half and it took one bounce over the home keeper and ended up in the net.
The goal inspired his team-mates who went on to score another five through doubles from Nik Mann and Lee Maloney plus another from James Malone. Lochee Harp drew 2-2 draw at Newburgh. Goals from Ryan McKillen and Sam McDonald gave Harp the advantage but the Fifers hit back through Greg Fairweather and Gavin Thomson.
Kinnoull beat visitors Arbroath Vics 2-1. ’Noull broke the deadlock on 32 minutes through Mark Smith. Kevin Lyons equalised but Rhys Davies scored the hosts’ winner 11 minutes from time.
A Jake Dolzanski goal wasn’t enough for Luncarty, who lost 2-1 at home to Thornton.
Scone Thistle won 4-1 at Forfar Albion. Steve Archibald put Albion ahead but an own goal and further strikes by Arron Mackay, Fraser Mills and Abi Njie sealed a win for the Jags.
James Simpson and Darren Neave were on the mark as Blairgowrie won 2-0 at Brechin Vics.
