Swifts can secure top-flight status

-

JEANFIELD Swifts know victory at home to Musselburgh tomorrow will ensure their Super League status for another season.

Swifts will have player/boss Ross Gunnion back in their squad after missing three games with an injury.

Steve McManus has also been given the all clear to return. However, John Anderson is doubtful with a thigh injury, while Lee Deans is suspended. Musselburgh lost 2-0 in midweek to Linlithgow. Broughty Athletic boss Keith Gibson was a much happier manager after back-to-back wins over Broxburn and Musselburgh last week.

The Fed gaffer now wants t o keep t he momentum going against title-chasing Bonnyrigg Rose. The Lothian side trail leaders Kelty Hearts but are still in with a chance if the Fifers slip up in their final two matches.

Broughty have a score to settle with their opponents, having lost 4-0 to them when they last met. Gibson is able to name a full-strength pool apart from Drew Fleming, who is suspended.

Lochee United, who are vying with the Fed to see who finishes furthest up the league, head to Hill of Beath. Manager George Shields is looking to keep the run going after wins in their last two matches against Penicuik and Broughty.

The Haws were 3-1 winners when they met at Thomson Park but their form has been up and down this season and the Bluebells will be confident of avenging that defeat.

Shields does have a few i njury concerns, however. Graeme Hay, Connor Birse and Scott Webster are definitely out, while Greg Kirk and Paul Lunan face fitness tests.

Carnoustie wind up their home programme with a visit from Bo’ness. The Gowfers have a host of players unavailable for various reasons.

Ewan Buggins is suspended, while Liam Scott and Luke McGeehan are out. Adding to manager Alan McSkimming’s problems is the fact he will be without the injured Ryan Roche.

The Gowfers have fixed up defender Alan Harwood on a permanent deal from Montrose FC after a successful loan period at Laing Park.
