Dane prefers heat of the battle to Utd’s icy dips

-

if you are playing like we have been for a while now, you should think this way.

“We have good confidence in the team, so why not?

“I haven’t scored in the last three games but I think we are good offensively.

“We have many players right now who are scoring goals and we are creating chances in every game. If we can take some of those chances I think we can win.”

Since the first leg, it’s been revealed part of United’s preparations for the play-off ties, against Morton last week and now Falkirk, have been recuperative “dips” in the North Sea not far from their St Andrews University training base.

As a Norseman, fans can be forgiven for thinking diving into the icy water will represent no problem for Mikkelsen but he’s more than happy to put the record straight on that point.

“I’m not the sea guy, I’m the swimming-pool guy. I like to swim but the water has to be warm and it isn’t here” he laughs.

“So, yes, we have been going in the sea but, for me, it’s cold, very cold.

“The gaffer says it is good for us and I know that can be the case.

“It is good for the team to get together and do something like that before big games.

“We have been laughing but don’t say I should be used to it because of where I’m from — in Denmark it is 25 degrees this week.

“That is the kind of weather I like.”
