Council collector mixed up separated rubbish

-

I WAS interested to read the comments by a Dundee City Council spokesman to a letter in the Tele concerning the correct use of recycling containers.

He said as the council is required to take steps to combat the contamination of recycling bins and in an effort to encourage residents to make full use of their recycling services, measures will be introduced as part of the overall education and awareness campaign.

He went on to say he hopes this will see a move away from everything being put into the grey bin.

Perhaps then, he might explain why collectors making the final uplift of cans and plastics along with the green boxes from our part of Balgillo Road, just emptied the contents into grey bins sitting outside.

As my grey bin was already full with neatly tied bags of “correct” refuse, the extra volume of material ensured the lid couldn’t even close, leaving cans and bottles sticking out.

If it’s good enough for council employees, who get paid from our council taxes, to do it then it is surely good enough for residents?

Jmac.
