Criminal chose to target a kid
WHEN a thief makes off with ill-gotten gains in a schoolbag, he or she knows full well the kind of person they’re targeting (see page 9).
The culprit behind the raid on Charlie George’s home has taken a conscious decision to deprive a child of his prized possessions.
And, while any theft is despicable, that goes beyond the pale.
Despite an apparently mature response to the incident, what kind of message does young Charlie take from this sorry episode?
When can he get back to playing the video games that he so loves?
And, crucially, how do he and his family feel safe again in a house which has been violated in this way?
Somebody in the community will know who was behind this crime.
They should pass that information on to the authorities.
Because it’s probably asking too much to think that the culprit will have a crisis of conscience.
