Start slowly when taking up jogging

-

thinking of taking up jogging but am worried about putting my knees under too much strain. I’m not as young as I used to be.

To cool down, carry on running at an easier pace or walk for five to 10 minutes. This will help your body recover after your run.

When starting out, you should build up slowly.

Don’t be tempted to increase the intensity or distance of your running too quickly.

Do a similar run at least three or four times before you increase your pace or distance.

If you have not exercised for a while and are worried about any potential impact on health issues speak to your doctor.
