Canadian signs up to play for the Stars

-

DUNDEE CCS Stars have announced the signing of Canadian forward Malcolm Gould (above) for the forthcoming ice hockey season.

Gould joins the Taysiders from the French League where he played with Strasbourg, amassing 23 points from his 27 games with them.

The 24-year-old is a product of the NCAA where he played four seasons with Michigan Tech before moving to France last year.

Born in Vancouver, Gould stands 5ft. 11in. and weighs 181lbs.

Coach Marc LeFebvre is confident his skill levels will warm him to the Dundee faithful.

He said: “Malcolm has a lot of skill and reminds me a lot of a taller Vinny Scarcella who was our top scorer last season.

“He has a lot of the same qualities and, after doing our research and talking to him, we are delighted to have him.’

“He did well in France and, although our league is a more physical one, I know he will handle that.

“He had four excellent years with Michigan Tech and was selected for the All-Star team twice.

“He is young and hungry and I expect him to be one of our top players.”

Gould added: “I’m very excited for the opportunity to be continuing my professional career with the Stars.

“I can’t wait to get the season underway and am looking forward to coming to Scotland.

“I hear the fans are very loyal and loud so I am hoping to help them have a winning season.”
