Man to stand trial over threat to kill

- BY ADAM HILL

An eyewitness said the disturbance in Luffness Walk appeared to be a “major incident” and that officers had blocked part of the road after swooping on the Whitfield area of the city.

They later detained 26-year-old Alan Taylor, who has appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court accused of threatening to kill his partner Michelle Nicoll and himself.

It is also alleged he conducted himself in a disorderly manner, climbed out of a window and sat on the window sill with his legs hanging outside the property and hung from the same window sill by one arm.

Taylor is also charged with throwing household items around the property, causing them to break.

The offences are alleged to have been committed on May 26 and 27.

Taylor denied all the charges against him when he appeared in court and is due to stand trial on July 21.

He is due to appear in court again for an intermediate diet on June 29.

Residents said nearby streets, including Ormiston Crescent, were sealed off by police who responded to reports of a disturbance.

One eyewitness described the scene as looking like a “major incident”.

He said: “I was passing in my car with my partner and we saw that the police had pulled up and parked right across the road and blocked it off.

“They were putting out signs saying ‘Police Slow’.

“It looked like a major incident because the police had the road completely sealed off. I was worried because I live nearby and the police were out in force.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said officers were called to an address in the Whitfield area on May 27.

He said: “Police Scotland can confirm that they attended at an address in Luffness Walk, Dundee, around 9am on May 27 to deal with a disturbance.

“A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with a breach of the peace.”

POLICE sealed off part of a Dundee street amid claims a man had gone on the rampage and had been seen hanging by one arm from a window at a block of flats.
