Tickets on sale for charity ball

AUTISM Support Angus and Dundee is hosting its first-ever charity ball in Carnoustie in August.

Organisers have entertainm­ent from Jive Candy, a buffet, raffle and auction.

All profit on the night goes to supporting 500 families in Dundee and Angus who have a relative with autism.

The group runs a free fortnightl­y youth club in Maule Street on Sundays between 6pm-8pm for children who are on the autism spectrum.

The group has been heavily supported by the Carnoustie community, with donations from both the town’s gala committee and from the Haven charity shop on the High Street.

Tickets for the ball can be bought for £20 each and can be ordered via asadautism@hotmail. com.

George Hunt, 22, of Helmsdale Avenue, will stand trial at Dundee Sheriff Court accused of four separate charges.

Hunt denies driving a car without insurance at Helmsdale Avenue, Helmsdale Place, Harestane Road and Newton Road, Dundee, on November 15 last year.

He also denies driving dangerousl­y by driving at excessive speed, failing to stop when requested to do so by police in a marked vehicle.

Hunt further denies entering the opposing carriagewa­y, losing control of his vehicle and colliding with a wall whereby the wall and his vehicle were damaged on the same date and at the same locations.

Hunt further denies failing to stop and provide his personal details after the incident.

Following the incident local residents described the scene to the Evening Telegraph.

Alex Morton, 64, said he got a phone call to say the dyke around his garden had been damaged.

He told the Tele: “I was babysittin­g my grandson at the time so I drove back.”

He added: “Later I saw a sniffer dog going round the area with a police officer.”

Stephen Cruickshan­k, 52, who owns a property next door to Alex said his nephew Arron had called him to say that he had heard a loud noise near the property.

Stephen, who had lived there for 10 years, said: “My nephew Arron phoned me to tell me t hat he heard a bang and never thought anything of it.

A MAN has appeared in court accused of leading police on a chase through Dundee streets.
