Thirteeen not unlucky as City hit Letham hard

-

DUNDEE City Ladies further boosted their goal difference with a 13-2 win against league newcomers Letham Ladies in Perth.

City were in command from the outset and Laura-Anne Johnston hit an unstoppable shot from a tight angle to open the scoring.

Jayne Digby then sent a powerful header into the top corner.

A fine strike from distance by Laura Boag made it 3-0 before Johnston added her second.

Amanda Primrose then got off the mark as she latched on to a through ball to knock it past the goalkeeper from close range.

The City defence had rarely been troubled as the first half finished 6-0 after Boag hit home a half volley.

City started the second half in a sluggish manner with credit going to the young Perth side for their determination to reduce the deficit.

However, Primrose, who has been in sparkling form of late, was beginning to exploit the space up front and rounded the goalkeeper with ease to trigger her goal rush as she went on to add a further three goals.

Boag completed her hat trick as she wrong footed the goalkeeper with a free-kick from 20 yards and Johnston also bagged her third with some neat footwork following good passing play through the midfield. City’s other scorer was Hope Ramage. Hard working Letham grabbed two late goals, both following good work from their forward players and some tidy finishing.

Player of the Match once more went to the free scoring Amanda Primrose.

City now have a free week before returning to action on June 25 away to fourth placed Edinburgh Caledonia.
