Dundee motorists set for disruption on busy city road
He said: “Everyone on this road will be affected — parking is going to be a nightmare.
“Disruption is an understatement. The upside is that roads will be in a better condition. However, I think four weeks is a long time.
“It will just create more congestion to the point of insanity on the surrounding roads. I think it will be horrendous.”
Local resident Kelly Marr, 42, said: “Four weeks is shocking.
“It is great to see the roads being looked after but it will hurt all the local businesses.
“These businesses are already paying business rates and they should be given some rebate to help them deal with this disruption.
“The council needs to be more pro business.”
Councillor Fraser Macpherson said the upgrades would cause “considerable disruption”.
He said: “I am pleased to see these long-awaited road and footway improvements taking place.
“However, it will result in considerable disruption while the work is taking place so it is vital that there is full consultation with residents and local businesses.”
Tayside Contracts has been approached for comment but had not responded at the time of going to press.
The works are set to start on July 24.
