Third phase begins on £40m riverfront flats
Contractor Keltbray Structures confirmed to the Tele today that construction is under way on the £40 million development at the city’s Riverside Drive.
The company said 45 apartments will be built in this latest phase of the project.
Dundee-based developer H&H Properties started work on the flats back in 2012 after a catalogue of issues at the site under previous companies.
Based on the site of the former Homebase store, the 202-home development is a major part of Dundee’s £1 billion Waterfront regeneration.
Residents at flats in Riverside Drive have praised the development
George Conway, 45, who has lived in the complex since 2015, said that he is looking forward to seeing to seeing the final result.
“I cannot fault the place,” he said.
“I’ve not encountered any problems since I moved in.
“On the rare occasions that the sun is out then it’s absolutely lovely looking onto the River Tay.
“It’ll be nice to see it when all the blocks are completed.”
The riverside site has passed through the hands of several potential developers after Homebase closed in 1999.
The luxury flats are just a short distance from the V&A development, which is set to open in 2018.
Kelly McCormack, 32, who moved in at the start of the year, said: “It’s a great place to live because of how easy it is to get to and the location is perfect for the views, while still being so close to the city centre.
“I’m only six months into my tenancy here but so far, so good.
“I also haven’t been woken up by any of the diggers yet, which I’m very thankful for.”
H&H Properties declined to comment on the third phase of the development.
In a previous statement, the group described the project as a “prestigious apartment development in the heart of Dundee in close proximity to the new V&A museum site”.
FOUNDATIONS are being put in place for the third phase of work on a luxury flats development at Dundee’s Waterfront.
