Scougall signs for Wright men

-

ST JOHNSTONE have signed attacking midfielder Stefan Scougall from Sheffield United on a twoyear deal.

The 24-year-old from Edinburgh will now be part of the Saints squad which competes i n the Europa League qualifiers before the 2017-18 Ladbrokes Premiership season gets under way.

The former Scotland U/21 cap, who scored 10 times in 100 appearances for the Blades and once i n 10 games for Fleetwood while on loan there, said: “My dad and I were invited to the Saints game against Hearts towards the end of l ast season and I spoke extensively with Saints manager Tommy Wright that night.

“He was so positive about the club and his reasons for wanting me here that I was more than happy to sign.

“I need to play football and once I knew Tommy wanted me, it was just a case of trying to get the deal done.

“These things take time but I’m delighted to have got it done.

“The rest of the lads have been in for a week so I’ve missed that. However, I now just want to get started and we’ll see what happens from there.”

St Mirren, Hearts and Motherwell were also thought to be keen on the former Livingston player.

He’s the second Saints signing of the summer after the capture of Kyle McClean from Nottingham Forest. Both could feature in closed-doors games this week.
