Local gin producers on awards shortlist

-

GIN manufacturers are raising a glass after making it on to the shortlist for the inaugural Scottish Gin awards.

Eden Mill, in St Andrews, the Gin Bothy, based at Peel Farm, near Kirriemuir, Angus, and Dundee’s Verdant are all in the mix of 28 producers, eight distilleries and 56 gins who have made it to the finals of a new national competition sponsored by the Scottish Gin Society.

Scottish Gin Society founder Stephen White, who chairs the judging panel, said selecting the finalists was a challenge, but one the panel thrived on.

He said: “The evidence we reviewed showed the Scottish gin industry is a vibrant, creative and high-quality centre for the delivery of a premium product, which is among the best in the world.

“I expect that we will see many of our top producers gain the recognition that will come from winning one of these sought-after awards.”

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow in September.
