Plea after caravan stolen
POLICE Scotland today appealed for information after the theft of a caravan in Angus.
The force said it was stolen from a yard near Carmyllie around 2.45am on Wednesday.
The “distinctive” caravan — a white 1996 single-axis Elddis Typhoon with some minor damage to the front end — was taken by two men driving a dark-coloured Volvo.
A spokeswoman f or the f orce said t oday: “Although the location it was taken from is quite remote — and there i s little chance the theft will have been seen by members of the public — the caravan is quite distinctive given it has minor damage, which should draw attention should someone attempt to sell it.”
Anyone with information about the theft is being urged to contact Police Scotland on 101. The spokeswoman added: “Information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Sam Campbell, 23, said she’s been having “sleepless nights” since thieves made off with a 42-inch JVC television, house keys and seven PlayStation 4 games from the home she shares with her husband Kieron, 21.
Speaking today, Sam said the couple thought they had found their “dream home” when a wheelchairadapted property in Candle Lane became available for their four-yearold son Peter-James, who is blind and has cerebral palsy.
She told the Tele: “We moved into this flat two months ago and the area seemed great.
“With Peter-James being wheelchair dependent, we’d been looking for four years to find something suitable.”
Sam said she was unsure how long the intruders were in their property.
She added: “When I woke up, I noticed items in the kitchen had been moved and then I noticed the TV had gone from the living room.
“You do not want to think someone has been in your home.
“I thought Kieron had played a prank and he thought likewise that I’d done something.”
The couple contacted the police as soon as they realised other items in the house were taken during the morning raid.
Sam added: “Kieron had gone to bed just after 2am on Monday so it has happened sometime after that.
“I have been having sleepless nights since this has happened.
“We moved here for the benefit of our son and this happens after two months.
A WOMAN today said her family will have to move house after thieves broke in while they slept.
“We have already made the decision that we want to move as we do not feel safe. The thieves took our keys so all the locks had to be changed.”
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed officers are investigating the incident, which took place between 2am-9am on Monday June 19. The spokesman for the force added: “Although it is unlikely the incident itself will have been seen, a large 42-inch JVC television was stolen and there is a good chance someone may have seen persons carrying this in the city centre.”
The Police Scotland spokesman added that anyone with information on the incident that may be useful should contact Tayside Division on 101.
