Probe after worker injured at city firm

It has been confirmed that a man in his forties sustained an injury during the incident in which it is understood an object fell on to his foot at D Copeland Engineerin­g Ltd at Nobel Road, Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate.

An ambulance crew was called and the injured man was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

Police officers also attended the incident.

A spokeswoma­n for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed that an inspector had visited the company and an investigat­ion is to be held into the incident.

The spokeswoma­n said: “HSE is aware of the incident and an inspector visited the site on Friday to commence an investigat­ion.”

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed a crew had been asked to attend the incident along with police.

He said: “We received a call at 9.24 am on Friday June 23 to attend an address i n Nobel Road.

“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene. One male patient in his forties was taken to Ninewells Hospital.”

A spokesman for Police Scotland confirmed that they too had been asked to attend the incident.

He said: “The around 9.20am.”

“One man was injured and the Health and Safety Executive is dealing with it.

“As a result of the HSE involvemen­t, the initial police investigat­ions into the accident have ended.”

He added: “There are no further details available about the nature of the incident or the condition of the man who was injured.”

When approached by the Evening Telegraph, the managing director of D Copeland Engineerin­g Ltd declined to comment.

The company makes structural metal fabricatio­n components for building work.

It also manufactur­es prefabrica­ted metal buildings.
