Designers award for Daisy

A TEXTILE design graduate from the University of Dundee has been named the winner of a New Designers Award.

Daisy Stott, who exhibited her work i n last m o n t h ’s D u n c a n o f Jordanston­e College of Art & Design Degree Show, won the Sainsbury’s Home Award at the New Designers exhibition i n London for her tableware collection “Foraged Findings”, inspired by edible plant and foodstuffs found throughout Scotland.

Daisy said:“This is quite a surprise. I’m extremely honoured and it’s amazing to be recognised.”

The judges said: “Daisy has a wonderful talent for bridging print, pattern and typography.

“There is also a great British story behind the product and her textiles. Her use of colour palette and embroider y was exquisite.”

The Sainsbury’s Home Award brings Daisy a prize of £500 and an invitation to present her portfolio to the Sainsbury’s Design Team with the chance of a one-year paid work placement within the Sainsbury’s Design Studio with a salary of £20,000.

Andrew Tanner, design manager at Sainsbury’s Home, said: “I started my career back at New Designers in 1997 so this show is incredibly close to my heart.

“We’re keen to attract the best new design talent into our in-house design team, who are responsibl­e for more t han 80% of S a i n s bu r y ’s H o m e products.”
