Dee hope it’ll lucky for new
DUNDEE will be hoping it’s third time lucky for the club’s recent Dutch signings after sealing a deal for winger Randy Wolters.
Snapped up on a free transfer after leaving Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag, Wolters has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Dens Park.
Dundee manager Neil McCann has added the wide midfielder to his list of new recruits after bringing in Scott Allan, Roarie Deacon and Lewis Spence this summer.
However, Dark Blues fans will be hoping Wolters makes more of an impact than the last two Dutch imports, Yordi Teijsse and Marc Klok.
Between the two of them, Teijsse and Klok made just 10 league appearances for the club as both left after short-lived spells.
Signed from amateur side Quick Boys, Teijsse was seen as a rough diamond by then-manager Paul Hartley but it was plain to see it would take a lot of work to get him ready to play professionally, never mind in the Scottish top flight.
He did score early on in his Dens career in a hammering of Forfar in the League Cup but, sadly for the player, that was his only highlight at Dens before heading to German fourth-flight side Wuppertaler.
Klok’s spell was even shorter — two substitute appearances was all the former Ross County player managed before heading out to Indonesia to play for PSM Makassar.
Those two didn’t exactly set the bar high for new boy Wolters to beat but what do we know about him?
Career
The 27-year-old came through the youth system at FC Utrecht, making his way into the first team in the Dutch top flight and scoring on his debut in a 4-1 home loss to VVV-Venlo.
He went on to make eight appearances for Utrecht before moving to FC Emmen in the second tier.
Wolters stayed in the Jupiler league before finally getting back to the top flight with Go Ahead Eagles last campaign and spending the second half of the season at mid-table ADO Den Haag on loan.
At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, Go Ahead had qualified for the Europa League despite being in the second tier thanks to Uefa’s Fair Play rule.
Wolters played both legs of their qualifier against Hungarians Ferencvaros but they were knocked out 5-2 on aggregate.
