King looking to rekindle old pals act

- BY GEORGE CRAN

BILLY King can’t wait to join up with his former Hearts team-mate James Keatings again and has promised Dundee United fans they can expect to see fireworks when the pair take to the field.

Two of the Tangerines’ newest signings were together at Tynecastle and King is, once again, looking to be Keatings’ provider as they aim to shoot the club to promotion.

King said: “I think James is a great player.

“He had a good spell at Hearts over the winter period and we linked up really well.

“He’s a great finisher, got a lovely left foot and, if you give him service, he’ll score goals.

“He’s a top player and I’ll be looking to work well with him again, we had a good relationship at Hearts and we understand each other.

“United fans can look forward to that again if I can give him the service and we both get our match sharpness. “It could be a good partnership.” Manager Ray McKinnon moved quickly to snap up King after the winger was told he was free to leave Tynecastle.

Having spent the last season on loan at relegated Inverness, King, however, knew a move was on the cards at the end of his Jambos deal.

“I saw it coming at Hearts. Ian Cathro came in and was looking to rebuild the whole squad,” King explained.

“He has his own ideas and there were a lot of players leaving, so I was looking to get something sorted quickly and coming to a massive club like United is great.

“What attracted me was the stadium and the fanbase, the facilities and the manager, so it’s absolutely the right move for me and I’m delighted to get it done.

“I’ve got the experience of playing at big clubs like Hearts and Rangers and, obviously my time at Inverness as well, so I know what’s required.

“I know the pressure of the fans and stuff like that, so it won’t faze me.
