Catch the Bus Week in Dundee
XPLORE Dundee is reminding local people of the i mportance of bus travel in daily life, as part of Catch the Bus Week 2017.
Now i n its fifth year, Catch the Bus Week, which runs from t oday until Friday, is an annual campaign to put the bus in the spotlight and celebrate its unique importance, while encouraging people to leave the car at home and get on board with the most popular mode of public transport.
Bus travel accounts for approximately 80% of public transport trips in Scotland and therefore has a very important role to play in our lives.
Elsie Turbyne, managing director of Xplore Dundee, said: “We are very mindful of the vital role we play in our city and we want to celebrate t he positive impact we have on some of these key elements of daily life.
“Our contribution to the local economy, the environment, educational sector and to the lives of individuals is very important.
“During Catch the Bus Week and beyond, we want to make sure that we provide a bus service which gives people access to the places they need and want to get to — their jobs, schools, shops, the hospital.
“Local bus travel offers people the freedom to work, t o l earn and t o socialise and we are proud to provide this service to the people of Dundee.”
Tr a n s p o r t m i n i s t e r Humza Yousaf will also be visting the Xplore Dundee garage on Friday.
