‘Consultant’ didn’t write down notes

-

RECENTLY we answered the door to find a man who said he’d been sent by Dundee City Council

He introduced himself, showed ID, and explained he was a consultant on behalf of the council and was gathering any concerns or suggestions regarding the Eurobins.

Our bins are situated on a busy section of Arbroath Road. We began voicing our concerns. One was regarding parking spaces — which appears to be a city wide issue — and the other was the fact the lid flips over onto the main road (and passing vehicles).

This means you have to wait for a quiet section of traffic before opening the lid.

I need to put the lid fully over as I can’t manage to hold the lid and lift the bag into the bin at the same time.

As there are barriers on the pavement I then have to walk out onto the main road — again waiting for a quiet section of traffic —before being able to close the lid!

As the “consultant” had a clipboard and pen, I asked why he wasn’t taking any notes of our concerns.

His response to this made me laugh out loud.

“You will have to email the council directly and they will look into your concerns — and whatever you do, don’t mention parking spaces, or they won’t do anything about the bins.”

So the council is paying someone directly to knock on doors, to tell you to email the council. I give up.

E.G.R.G. Dundee.
