LeFebvre out, Pacha appointed

-

DUNDEE CCS Stars have announced head coach Marc LeFebvre has quit to join a team in North America.

However, they have moved quickly to appoint Omar Pacha to fill the role and he will take up his duties with immediate effect.

The Canadian has also been appointed general manager.

Pacha is no stranger to the Elite league, having joined Hull Stingrays as a player in 2013-14 before being installed as playercoach the following season.

He was then made Manchester Storm playercoach in 2015-16 and spent two terms with the Altrincham-based club.

Stars’ director, Stephen Ward said: “I would like to welcome Omar Pacha to our organisation.

“Marc LeFebvre has done a magnificent job for Stars and we are confident our new coach can continue to build on that success.”

Speaking from Canada, Pasha said: “I am really excited to be joining Stars.

“I got the call on Friday morning and, although I had a few options back home, when speaking to Steve Ward not only about the coach’s position but also the general manager’s position, it was a great opportunity for me.

“Having followed Stars’ progress for the past few years I just want to help that progress and continue to go upwards, not only on the ice but on a business side, too, and help establish them as a strong organisation.”

In LeFebvre’s two seasons, he took the Taysiders to the play-offs on both occasions, including qualifying for the play-off finals this year.

Stars issued a statement saying: “Dundee Stars can confirm that Marc LeFebvre has left the club with immediate effect. Marc has agreed terms with a North American organisation. We wish Marc the very best in his future career. “

Speaking from his home in Canada, LeFebvre said: “I thank the Ward family for giving me the chance to be head coach in Dundee and wish them, the club and all their fans the best of luck.”

FIFE Flyers have signed defenceman Chris Wands for the new season. It will be his 14th season with the Kirkcaldy club.
