Colin Hendry’s lad is at Saints

ST JOHNSTONE have completed the signing of 19-year-old Callum Hendry, son of former Scotland defender Colin Hendry.

The former Blackburn player appeared as a second-half substitute in the 3-0 home loss against Aberdeen. As internatio­nal clearance had not come through i n time, he was listed as a trialist.

S a i n t s b o s s To m my Wright commented: “Callum did OK. We are pleased to get him.

“He’s had injuries but is now fully fit and we are giving him the chance to make a career for himself.”

Saints fielded a mostly youthful team against an Aberdeen side that started off at full strength before a batch of youngsters were introduced midway through the second half.

Saints’ back four was Aaron Comrie (20), t e e n a g e r J a s o n K e r r, 21-year-old Liam Gordon and new signing Scott Tanser. Kyle McClean (18) lined up in midfield.

Tommy went on: “It was a useful exercise even though we lost.

“I was pleased with some of our play even though we lacked an end product.

“Chris Millar and Murray Davidson got some muchneeded game ti me and Stefan Scougall got another run-out.

“He sustained a rib injury against FK Trakai but it’s not a problem and he is OK for Thursday’s return leg.”

Despite l osing 2-1 at home to Trakia i n their Europa League first round first leg qualifying match, Saints are taking around 200 fans to the return leg.
