McManus beer sales delayed
THE McManus will have to wait a little longer before it can sell gift boxes of a special edition beer to the public.
An application to sell the McManus 150 ale at the museum, for consumption off the premises, was deferred until August by Dundee City Council’s licensing board.
The museum’s management at Leisure and Culture Dundee had failed to provide a display of site notice before the meeting, which would have allowed any potential objectors to have their say.
Licensing board convener Stewart Hunter said the application could not proceed without it.
“We can’t hear the application until that is in to ensure that any potential objectors have had the opportunity to see the notice and make any comments that they wish to,” he added.
“Hopefully, everything will be in order in August for the rest of the board to hear the application.”
The beer, created i n partnership with l ocal firm 71 Brewing, has been developed to mark the M c M a nu s ’s 150th anniversary and is a local effort through and through, featuring a label designed by design firm Fleet Collective and Tay s i d e a r t i s t S a n n a Dyker.
A spokesman for Leisure and Culture Dundee said: “There has been a slight delay although the beer can still be consumed on the premises at t he cafe or at events.”
