‘Caring’ Lisa dies suddenly in Ibiza

- BY WILL LYON

A “CARING” Dundee mum has died while holidaying abroad.

Lisa Harper, 49, had been staying on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

The mother-of-one died suddenly on Friday and the Foreign Office has been informed.

The department is in contact with members of Lisa’s family and is offering them support.

The cause of death is not yet known. Police in Ibiza were unavailable for comment.

Lisa was best known for working in several pubs across Dundee, including The Weavers Tavern and the Windmill Bar in the Hilltown.

Yvonne Cushnie, 49, said the “bubbly” barmaid would be “sorely missed”.

She said: “We’ve been friends for 20 years.

“Lisa was born in London and moved here to the Trottick area.

“She moved all over the place wherever her mum and stepdad were working in pubs.

“She was a happy person and very caring friend and mum.

“I think most people will remember her for her sunny disposition. “She’ll be sorely missed by everyone.” Family friend Wilma Wemyss, 61, who now lives in Montrose, said: “I was very friendly with her mum, Margaret, and what I would say about Lisa is that she was a very bubbly woman.

“I hadn’t seen Lisa for a number of years but the last I heard she had a beauty place in the Ferry.

“I found out on Facebook on Sunday morning when I saw someone posting ‘RIP Lisa’.

“I did wonder, ‘Is that the same person? Is that really Margaret Harper’s daughter?’

“So, I was devastated when I found out it was.

“Lisa was well known in the bars around Dundee.

“She worked in the Windmill Bar and The Underground, plus several others.”

Wilma’s daughter, Angela, 44, added: “Lisa was a really outgoing and caring person. She was always happy and well liked. She used to work in the The Weavers Tavern but after that she went into beauty.

“I believe she had gone on holiday on her own. It’s just so sad.”

A Foreign & Commonwealth Office spokesman confirmed it was aware of Lisa’s death.

He said: “We are in contact with the family of a British woman who died in Ibiza on June 30, and we continue to offer support at this difficult time.”

Lisa’s family declined to comment when approached by the Tele.
