EX-RANGER KIRK IS NOW AT RUGBY PARK

KILMARNOCK have completed the signing of ex-Hibs, St Mirren and Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot.

The 32-year-old, who appeared in the 2008 UEFA Cup final with his former Ibrox employer, has penned a three-year deal subject to internatio­nal clearance.

He becomes the second new recruit to join up with Lee McCulloch’s squad this week after the Rugby Park boss also clinched the signing of former Partick Thistle right-back Stephen O’Donnell.

Broadfoot started his career at Hibs, before signing for St Mirren i n 2002.

The Ayrshire-born player made 174 appearance­s for the Buddies before earning his move to Govan where, playing alongside McCulloch, he helped Rangers to three Scottish titles.

He quit them following t h e c l u b ’s financial implosion back i n t he summer of 2012 and moved on to Blackpool before signing for his most recent club, Rotherham, in June 2014. The former Scotland Internatio­nal made 60 appearance­s for the Millers, before l eaving the New York Stadium to return north of the border.

O’Donnell has signed a three-year contract after leaving Luton.

The 25-year-old made 72 appearance­s for the Hatters after leaving Firhill two years ago but was not offered a new deal.

Speaking about the former Firhill man’s arrival, McCulloch commented: “I’m totally delighted to have Stephen on board. I see this as a real coup for the club, he’s an athletic player that wants to get better every day.

“He has shown that he can play very well in this league and has gained i nva l u a bl e ex p e r i e n c e down in England and will fit in well with t he club’s playing style.”
