Bid to clear up construction confusion
A FREE programme for the construction industry which puts the spotlight on digital technology is to be held in Dundee this week.
The Preparing for Business Information Modelling (BIM) learning event will be held at D&A College’s Kingsway campus on Thursday from 5pm-7.30pm.
The course is run by the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) and will be hosted by Adrian Shilliday, technical director at Galiford Try, and Dr Sarah Graham, of IES Limited.
BIM is seen by experts as a key part of the future of the Scottish construction industry and uses digital technology to improve the sharing and analysis of data within a construction project.
Delivered by the CSIC and supported by Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Futures Trust, BIM Regions Scotland and other partners, the workshops are aimed at construction professionals right across the industry, including designers, clients, facility managers, manufacturers and suppliers.
BIM programme manager Lisa Deane said: “The Preparing for BIM event is a three-year awareness and implementation programme based around the UK BIM Task Force Learning Outcomes.
“It consists of free-to-attend events which are aimed at all organisations involved with construction.
“There is still a lot of confusion in the construction industry about what exactly BIM is, what Level 2 means and what needs to be done to become BIM Level 2 compliant.
“Any business worried or confused about BIM should come along to our Preparing for BIM workshop free training opportunities.”
Registration and attendance at the event is free.
