All positions on group’s committee filled

-

THE Bravo Brechin community group is looking to the future after filling all of its committee roles and appointing a new chairwoman.

The group, which has run the High Street cartie races and the Christmas extravaganza, has recently struggled to fill key roles.

After a successful pageant event last month, there was a rallying call for volunteers to come forward, but despite widespread publicity for the meeting, only 15 people turned up.

After the difficulties i n recruitment were revealed, another meeting was held and all the positions on the committee have now been filled.

New chairwoman Louise Duncan said the group would now focus on holding smaller events.

A veterinary care assistant at Crofts Vets in Brechin, Louise became involved when Bravo asked the practice to judge the pet show.

She organised the pet show the following year and more recently was chairwoman of the pageant sub-group.

“We will not be holding the cartie race this year but will still be having the children’s P5 fancy dress party, as well as the monster ball,” she said.

“The Christmas event will hopefully go ahead as usual but will be on a smaller scale from St Ninians Square rather than the High Street. We are very willing to take suggestions on what the people of Brechin want to see and do.”
