20m visits recorded by trust

FIFE Sports and Leisure Trust has marked more than 20 million visits to its sites by active Fifers.

The trust has recorded year-on-year growth i n attendance­s since its launch in 2008 to operate Fife Council’s 14 centres.

Figures show customer visits rose by 20,000 from April 2016 to March 2017.

Efforts to engage with target age groups have also been a success, with attendance­s by under-18s and over-60s increasing by 5%.

Welcoming t he milestone, trust chief executive Ed Watson said: “The trust is committed to getting more people more active more of the time.

“Recording year-onyear growth in attendance and reaching 20 million visits i s a remarkable achievemen­t and I’d like to thank customers for their support, as well as our staff for their hard work.”

Councillor Judy Hamilton, convener of the community and housing services committee, said she was delighted visitor numbers continued t o grow.

“I am so pleased that local people are really enjoying using local leisure and sports facilities,” she said.

“Addressing inequaliti­es through access to sport and physical activity is a priority for us and we’re keen to highlight that there are lots of activities for people of all ages to try out.

“This is part of our drive to improve the health and wellbeing of all our local communitie­s.”
