spectacular McMullan goal to break the deadlock in what was shaping up to be a very tight affair.

As well as being delighted to help the team, he was happy to get a debut goal and, via an impressive overall display, show Tannadice fans what he has in his locker.

“I was pleased with my performance because I want to show the United fans what I can do. I was very happy with my goal as well.

“I want the fans to get behind me because that’s good for your confidence and I was really pleased I made a good impression.

“It helped the way we are playing suits me. Right now we don’t have a lot of height up front so the gaffer wants us to get the ball down and play and that’s definitely my game.”

As United boss Ray McKinnon revealed to the Tele earlier this month, McMullan came to Tannadice despite have the option to stay on at Celtic for at least another year.

Although he was farmed out last term, the Scotland u/21 was held in high regard at Parkhead and the champions were happy to give him the chance to show his worth.

For the winger, though, the chance to head to United was too good to turn down.

“This is a great opportunity for me. It’s a massive club and it’s somewhere you can come to and develop.

“I know I have the chance to get first-team experience if I am playing well and that’s what I need. With games I feel I can get better and improve and show what I can do.”
