Saints beat a full strength Rangers

ST JOHNSTONE recorded their second pre-season clean sheet against Rangers at Murray Park when they won 1-0 there yesterday.

This follows on from their 0-0 divide against the Ibrox men a few weeks ago,.

On both occasions, Rangers were at full strength with Graham Dorrans and Carlos Pena making their debuts for the club in yesterday’s game.

Saints fielded youngsters Aaron Comrie and Jason Kerr in defence with the rest of the side being made up of experience­d top team players, although Joe S h a u g h n e s s y, S t e f a n Scougall and trialist Romain Habran were the only players Saints fielded from the start who played in Saturday’s 3-0 home win over Sunderland.

In an extraordin­ary incident, Rangers’ Niko Kranjcar was ordered from the field by the referee after 35 minutes for screaming at the match official after being fouled.
